Common Questions from Cambridge Families

Are your carers actually trained for clinical tasks like PEG feeding or catheter care?

Yes. Our complex care carers are trained to QCF Level 3 minimum, with task-specific training (PEG, catheter, stoma, hoist) signed off by a registered nurse.

How does NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) work?

If your loved one has significant clinical needs, they may qualify for fully NHS-funded care under CHC. The assessment looks at 12 care domains. We help you request the checklist assessment and prepare for the full Decision Support Tool meeting.

Can you work alongside a Macmillan or hospice nurse?

Yes — and we frequently do. Our end-of-life carers regularly liaise with Macmillan nurses, hospice-at-home teams, and palliative consultants.

What if my parent’s condition deteriorates suddenly?

Our carers report changes immediately — to family, GP, district nurse, and senior coordinator. We have escalation protocols. The senior coordinator is on call 24/7.

Can you handle ventilator-dependent or tracheostomy clients?

Yes, with the right carer. We have carers experienced in non-invasive ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP and tracheostomy care.

Do you do post-stroke or post-surgical recovery?

Yes. Live-in complex care during the first 4-12 weeks post-stroke or post-surgery has the highest impact on long-term outcomes.

How do you handle medication?

MAR charts are kept and audited. Carers prompt or administer per the prescribed care plan. We work directly with the GP and pharmacy.
