Overnight Care in Suffolk

Overnight Care at Home in Suffolk

The night is when families worry most. A fall on the way to the bathroom, dementia-led wandering, missed medication, a chest infection that worsens by morning. Our Suffolk overnight carers are awake or close-by all night so the rest of the family can finally sleep.

Two types of overnight cover

Sleeping night

Carer stays in the home, sleeps in a separate bed, and is on hand if needed up to twice a night. Right for people who are mostly settled but family wants someone close.

Waking night

Carer stays awake all night, checking in regularly, supporting toileting, repositioning, medication, or dementia-related wandering. Right for higher-need clients.

When overnight care makes sense

  • After a hospital discharge from West Suffolk Hospital where the family isn’t confident overnight
  • Dementia at the stage where wandering or sundowning is starting
  • Recent falls, especially night-time falls
  • End-of-life care where the family wants to be present but also rest
  • Recovering from surgery, especially hip/knee replacement
  • To give a regular daytime carer or family member a proper break
Sleeping or waking night — which do we need?

If the person sleeps through most nights and you mainly want someone close in case of a fall or confusion, sleeping night is right. If they regularly wake, need toileting, repositioning, or medication through the night, you need waking night. We’ll advise honestly during the free assessment.

How quickly can overnight cover start?

For most Suffolk referrals we can start within 48 hours. For hospital discharges we often start the night they come home.

Will it be the same carer each night?

Wherever possible. For 7-night packages we typically rotate two carers so the relationship is consistent and the carers themselves get rest.

Can we book just a few nights — like during a relative’s holiday?

Yes. Short-term respite overnights are common — often booked while a regular family carer takes a week off, or after a small operation.
